About Thessa Buntsma

Drawing on her background in behavioural psychology and her own experience as a manager in healthcare, she helps managers and teams collaborate more effectively, take responsibility and perform with greater energy and enjoyment.

Thessa progressed in healthcare from intern to location manager. In practice, she discovered how much influence leadership, team dynamics and positive psychology have on both employee wellbeing and an organisation’s results. That experience ultimately formed the basis for TBHAPPY, which she founded in 2020.

Her conviction is clear: organisations grow when people grow. That is why Thessa focuses not only on enjoyment at work, but specifically on the factors that enable teams to function sustainably. These include trust, psychological safety, ownership, communication, motivation, leadership and mutual collaboration.

Through training, team coaching, workshops and individual guidance, she helps managers and teams make patterns visible and take concrete steps towards stronger collaboration and better results.

Thessa Buntsma: trainer in job satisfaction, team dynamics and leadership

A strong team does not emerge on its own. When collaboration is difficult, responsibilities are unclear or employees experience insufficient engagement, this affects more than just the atmosphere. Productivity, quality and results can also come under pressure.

Thessa Buntsma helps managers and teams understand what is happening beneath the surface and how they can influence it themselves.

Through TBHAPPY, she works with managers, executives, management teams and employees to build organisations where people feel valued, take responsibility and can perform at their best. In doing so, she combines her experience as a leader with knowledge of behavioural psychology, positive psychology, team development and job satisfaction.

Her approach is positive and people-focused, yet at the same time practical and results-oriented. For Thessa, job satisfaction is not a standalone initiative or a fun activity for employees. It is part of how teams collaborate, leaders provide direction and organisations perform.

From job satisfaction to strong teams

Job satisfaction is sometimes mainly associated with enjoyment in the workplace. According to Thessa, it goes much further than that.

A team in which people feel heard and valued, experience trust and dare to take responsibility creates a foundation for sustainable performance. That is why she works with teams and leaders to examine the various factors that influence collaboration and performance.

Her guidance covers topics including:

  • Job satisfaction and positive psychology
  • Team dynamics
  • Leadership
  • Psychological safety and trust
  • Ownership and responsibility
  • Motivation and engagement
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Team roles
  • Resistance and change
  • Personal development

The aim is not only to create insight. Teams and leaders are given practical tools that allow them to continue building independently after a training session or team day.

A trainer with practical experience

What sets Thessa apart is that she herself has spent years on the other side of the table. Before founding TBHAPPY, she worked in healthcare and progressed within a few years from intern to location manager.

There, she experienced firsthand what it means to be responsible for employees, results and team development. She also saw the major influence a leader can have on motivation, collaboration and job satisfaction.

She brings this practical experience to her work as a trainer and coach. As a result, she looks not only at what is theoretically desirable, but above all at what actually works within the everyday reality of a manager and team.

For leaders, this means, for example, that attention is paid to the balance between leader, coach and manager. How do you create trust? How do you deal with resistance? How do you motivate different employees? And how do you ensure that you can continue to lead with sufficient energy and perspective?

Understanding behaviour as a basis for development

Sustainable team development begins with understanding what happens within a team. Why do people respond differently to the same situation? Where do patterns arise in communication and collaboration? And what influence does a leader’s behaviour have on the team?

Behavioural insights can help make these patterns visible and open for discussion.

This aligns well with Thessa’s way of working. Within her programmes, she maps needs, team dynamics and underlying patterns, then translates those insights into concrete interventions. Individual conversations, team coaching, training and practical assignments are combined to create not only awareness, but also to genuinely encourage different behaviour.

With Qnomi, such behavioural insights can be explored further and remain available throughout the development process. This allows participants to continue consulting their own profile, while trainers can link behavioural insights to coaching, reflection and further development.

This means that an assessment becomes not just a snapshot, but a practical tool within a longer development programme.

A personalised approach for managers and teams

No two teams are the same. That is why Thessa does not work from one standard solution for every organisation.

For team programmes, the first step is to look at the people behind the team and the patterns at play in their collaboration. Individual conversations can, for example, provide insight into needs, bottlenecks and underlying dynamics. The findings are then discussed with the team and translated into a shared action plan.

Training sessions and team days can then focus on topics such as connection, trust, communication, role allocation and ownership.

This personal approach ensures that participants not only gain new insights, but can immediately connect them to situations from their own daily practice.

Thessa’s starting point is that sustainable change is only possible when employees genuinely feel involved and heard. As a result, development becomes something you do together with a team, rather than something imposed from above.

The combination of job satisfaction and results

The name TBHAPPY makes it clear that job satisfaction is central, but ultimately Thessa is aiming for more than just happy employees.

Her conviction is that strong teams achieve better results.

When people understand one another, take responsibility and collaborate effectively, an environment emerges in which both employees and organisations can grow. Job satisfaction, leadership and team development are therefore not separate topics, but parts of the same whole.

With her training sessions, workshops, team coaching and individual guidance, Thessa helps organisations make that connection and translate job satisfaction into concrete behaviour in the workplace.
